Henry the VIII once said that “Every man’s home is his castle” and William Goff of El Reno began to build his “Castle” in the year 1900 finishing in 1901. This home was fit for a king in this town during that era. It is only fitting that Castle Clearance was selected to liquidate the contents of this beautiful home listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Debbie DeMoss’ the owner of Castle Clearance is honored to presenting this sale to the public starting Friday April 27 through the 29th , 2018. Debbie’s family originated in El Reno. The Norris’ and the Swagerty’s planted their roots in this town and Debbie’s mother was laid to rest at the El Reno Cemetery just a 1-1/2 years ago. With this in mind the Castle Clearance Crew is very excited about this sale. Mr. Goff came to El Reno in 1892 and worked for Anheuser and Busch and also founded the Goff Cadet band. The home was one of the first to structurally mix the styles of the Colonial Revival and Queen Anne during this time period. It has a colonial tower and wrap around porch. The home is known to be a landmark in El Reno and one of very few historical homes that the exterior is almost all original and has not been modified .The home has been cared for and preserved by the best of the best over the years. Some items such as the original doors and windows and other parts such as door knobs etc. that have been replaced over the years will be up for sale. On display will be the original portrait of Mr. Goff and a photo of his baby daughter. One piece of furniture for sale will be a music bench with the original music books that are believed to belong to his daughter. This home is elegantly decorated on the inside and everything is being sold with few exceptions.
